Wolf Home

The homeowner of this 3265 s/ft. home requested a no-maintenance exterior that recalled the agricultural buildings of the plains. The standing seam roof, corrugated siding and trim are all galvanized steel.  The more formal alignment of doors and windows in the design was softened by the use of traditional trim elements.  

 
 
Bold wall colors and natural slate floors set off white pine timber elements and white wooden ceilings.   The dining room fireplace is a Rumford fireplace with a cut stone mantle and surround installed by Check Masonry.
     
 
Living room fireplace is also a Rumford design with a split stone veneer. Steel mantle was made by  Fox Custom Supply and conceals hidden lighting. The large double doors and windows on the east, west and south allow wonderful air flow.   The open design of the main floor revolves around the central fireplaces. The stairway and a hallway are between the two fireplaces.
     
 
White pine timbers were sustainably harvested by the Menominee Tribal Enterprise and were air dried for six months before installation.   The main staircase is site-built and incorporates cherry and painted poplar elements.
     
 
The stairs post assembly has black iron, and stainless steel elements worked into a solid cherry center.   Central area above the main stairs has a cathedral ceiling flanked by timber trusses. Timber trusses were assembled in the shop, dismantled and brought to the job site and hoisted into place for reassembly.  

 

    
 
Granite tiles and marble floors were done by Joe Muzynowski of Midstate Tile.  Glass doors and translucent panel were done by Esser Glass.   This soaking tub is nestled between two timber trusses. Bob’s Plumbing installed all the plumbing fixtures.
     
 
Kitchen cabinets were built by Steve Morgan of Twin Springs Cabinetry. Plumbing fixtures installed by Bob’s Plumbing of Amherst, electrical work by Earl’s Electric of Scandinavia.   The second story dormer roof has 3’ deep overhangs to shade the upper windows on this passive solar design. 
 
Scot landscapes around the new pond.  The retaining ledge of dry-stacked fieldstone with sandstone cap creates a relaxing place to sit at pool's edge.   Installing the balcony off the master bedroom.  The painted steel deck was designed by Gimme and fabricated in one piece by Fox Custom Supply of Appleton.  See more photos.
